Atherton Golf Club played host to one of the most exciting Drummond Golf Survivor Series rounds with the tournament seeing its very first hole in one and a competitor walking away with a brand new car.

The tournament had everyone on the edge of their seats with competitors set for an epic battle in the beautiful tablelands of North Queensland. 

Members of the golf club, as well as 100 players converged once again to compete for the coveted golden ticket for their spot in the final in Port Douglas in December. 

Ryan Moresco and James Kay have played 11 Survivor Golf Tournaments, sharing their drives early, taking advantage of the accessible holes and birdieing the difficult holes, hanging in there and proving that perseverance does get you that end result!

Talk Birdie To Me proved to be the team to beat as they equalled the course record with an impressive Nett – 14 score to emerge as our qualifiers heading to the final.

Thanks to the event naming partners Astute Finance, Atherton local Joel Anderson won a $40,000 Chery Omoda 5 after launching his Taylormade TP5 ball 154m with his 9 iron on the 18th tee. The ball fizzed towards the pin, landing on the green and rolling as if almost guided by destiny straight into the hole.

Thanks to his hole-in-one Joel is now the lucky winner of a brand new car which he will be picking up later this week from Trinity Auto Group in Cairns.

Round 10 also saw some epic plays of golf with an eagle on the 14th hole, some would rate the hardest hole in North Queensland – Tony Sturre and Glenn Dalton from 150m out to elevate them up the leaderboard. 

In addition to the team competition, there was that one stand out performance we have all been waiting for, that’s nothing short of spectacular.

Event partners, fellow golfers and spectators erupted into a loud LIV Golf like celebration.

Atherton Golf Club and Survivor Golf witnessed something impressive – Joel winning himself a $40,000 car. 

It’s these kinds of moments that don’t come around often that we are grateful for being a part of! The event was a resounding success, a showcase of some of the best local golfers and everyone who took part went home with something to smile about.
