Ayr Round 18
Drummond Golf Survivor Golf Series headed to Ayr for Round 18 of the 2023 series. It was our first time at Ayr Golf Club and we were made very welcome.
Ayr is famous as the place where Australia’s greatest golfer Karrie Webb grew up and started playing golf.
We were very fortunate to have Karrie’s Mum Evelyn and her granddaughter play in this year’s event.
After an exciting day of golf we had four teams finish on a great score of Nett 10 under. We also had six teams finish on Nett 9 under so this was the closet finish we have seen in a Survivor Golf event.
Four teams competed in a play off in front one hundred of their peers. There were high dramas, nervous energy and tears of joy during a very exciting finish!
Local heroes, The Mad Truckers (Joshua Searle and Ryan Mottin) won the day with Ryan, the higher handicapped team member, sinking a 20-foot putt in front of screaming spectators for victory.
Ryan and Josh won the Golden Ticket to Port Douglas on a day in Ayr that will be remembered for a long time.
Rowes Bay Round 19
Round 19 of Drummond Golf Survivor Golf Series was held at Rowes Bay and it was the third leg of our Townsville events for 2023. Rowes Bay has become a regular venue on the Survivor Golf calendar.
We were treated to a beautiful 20 degrees and it was absolutely perfect weather for golf. The greens were fast and we had a very competitive field. Last year’s winning score was Nett 12 under par so we knew that we would post some great scores.
At the halfway mark, we had 12 teams within 1 shot,
Team #59 flexed their muscles with an eagle and a birdie in the last three holes to jump the leader board and win by 2 shots with an incredible Nett 15 under.
Scott Gillespie and Tammy McCann are our first mixed team to win the golden ticket and make the Grand Final in Port Douglas!
